St.Martin St. Maarten Beaches

In all, St. Martin/St. Maarten beaches total to about 37, which gives rise to the observation that St. Martin/St. Maarten beaches are distributed equally for the full 37 square miles of the island. In spite of a few secluded beaches on St. Martin/St. Maarten, most St. Martin/ St. Maarten beaches are always bustling with excitement, visitors, water sports, games and entertainment.

Most Europeans quickly adapted to the ambience at St. Martin/St. Maarten beaches in terms of beach etiquette, based on the fact that the island is part French and part Dutch. Unlike the United States, where naturism remains relatively private, the European custom of beach naturism is a common feature of most St. Martin/St. Maarten beaches, although the St. Martin/St. Maarten beaches on the Dutch side of the island are described as being more conservative. Also, it is always wise and a must to walk with sunscreen or block for protection from the intense sun rays that the island receives. Some St. Martin/ St. Maarten beaches are shaded with natural palm and sea grape tress, but others are not, warranting the need for beach umbrellas, which are usually either readily available on the beach or provided by restaurants, bars and St. Martin/St. Maarten beach clubs.

Each beach on St. Martin/ St. Maarten has its own special features, such as resorts, beach villas and restaurants which provide live entertainment, beach chairs, umbrellas, water sport rentals and food for St. Martin/St. Maarten beach goers. In the same way, some St. Martin/St. Maarten feature conservative as well as beaches for nudists, so that everyone can have their equal share of fun and excitement whilst in St. Martin/St. Maarten.

A St. Martin/St. Maarten beach that has become almost a house hold name internationally is the Maho Beach, which is a favorite spot for sea bathers and water sports fans visiting the Dutch side of the island. The overhead flight of aircraft making their way to the island’s international airport is one of the reasons why so many people go to this St. Martin/St. Maarten beach just to have the thrilling experience of aircraft that is about to land, as it creates ripples and waves throughout the calm sea at Maho Beach St. Martin/St. Maarten.

Simpson Bay Beach is one of St. Martin/St. Martin outstanding beaches on Dutch St. Maarten, but which is mostly characterized by its privacy and quietness, unlike other St. Martin/ St. Maarten beaches that are common for water sports, large crowds, bars and resorts. Simpson Bay Beach St. Martin/St. Maarten is situated halfway between a fishing village and the coast, making it ideal for taking quiet walks, swims, sun baths and picnics.

In addition, there is Cupecoy Beach, St. Maarten/ St. Martin which is a favorite of both conservative and nude beach goers. Cupecoy Beach which is located on the Dutch St. Maarten borders with St. Martin and therefore has a touch of the French, which gives its visitors a certain degree of freedom in terms of dressing and beach wear. Cupecoy Beach St. Martin/ St. Maarten has remained unspoiled and reflects true paradise with its sand cliffs, caves and deep blue skies. Cupecoy is, however, said to be unsafe for children due to constantly changing sands and steep drop-offs. Mullet Beach, kimsha Beacg, Dawn Beach and Little Bay Beach are some of the other best known beaches on St. Maarten and are known for their crystal clear water that are just right for snorkeling, diving, swimming and evening or early morning walks that provide breathtaking scenes of sun rise and sun sets.

On the French side of the island, Orient Beach St. Martin is the largest and most frequented beach. The popularity of this St. Martin/St. Maarten beach on the French part of the island is mostly due to its development in terms of facilities for sailing and water sports, shopping and eating. The beach is also known for the Club Orient, which sits at the end of the beach and is an exclusive getaway for naturists.

In addition to Orient Bay Beach St. Martin, there are about twelve more beaches for which the island is well known. These beaches include Happy Bay Beach, which is often considered by some as the most charming St. Martin beach in terms of its natural green surroundings, seclusion and overall serenity; Anse Marcel Beach, Le Galion Beach, Pinel Island Beach, Plum Bay Beach, Friars Bay Beach, Grand Case Bay Peach, Baie Rouge and Baie Longue. Each of these St. Martin/St. Maarten possess their own features which transform them into the beaches for which they are used for activities like snorkeling, water skiing – such as in Le Galion ad Nettle Bay, or picnicking and sun bathing in the abundant amounts of white sand of Baie Rouge.
